Air Pollution

Air pollution is caused by gas which is issued by the industry, motor vehicles and housing. All gas is results of burning fossil (oil, coal) and the use of dangerous gas, eg CFC gas.
A. Gas combustion results

From out of gas, produce CO and sulfur oxide (SO, SO2). Carbon dioxide released by factories, cars, mchinery, etc. More CO2 can cause greenhouse. The hot of sun that reaches the surface of the earth, should be rebound to space, but because the earth was wraped by gas pollution, so its bounce again to the earth.
As a results the earth temperature rises, and is feared ice in the polar will melt.
Increased sulfur oxide can cause acid rain. Acid rain resulted in the death of plants, animals death, death of the ground, rusty metal, so it make the buildings are in dangerous.

B. Gas CFC (Chloro Flouro Carbon)

CFC is a gas that is not colored, does not smell, and is not toxic. This gas is widely used as gas developers (of foam rubber), cooler (AC, refrigerator) and splasher (hair spray, perfume). If CFC reached the stratosfer, (in stratosfer there is ozone gas) ozone (O3) is protect the earth from ultraviolet rays. CFC gas reacts with ozone and cause reduced of ozone, so that form the ozone hole. Trough the ozone hole, UV rays reach the earth, the consequences are the plants become stunted, weed in the sea extinct, the genetic mutation occured, cause skin cancer and eye cancer.

Save our planet

Tornado is one of the world's climate changes. There are many others.
The number of storms is increasing and there are more huricanes.
There are more floods in some parts of the world, and there's much less rain in others. We know that these happen because global temperatures are rising and many people belive the weather will get worse in the future. The problems of climate change won't go away unless we do something about the causes.
Scientists still do not know enough about the reasons for these temperature changes. Some say that these types of climate changes are natural, but most scientists think human activity is the problems.
Scientists believe that if the temperatures continue to rise, the ice at the poles will melt. If the ice melts, sea levels will rise. Some island might disappear completely, and there might be floods in coastal cities. All this means that unless we do something to stop global warming now, there may be many other dramatic changes in the future.

Tropical forest

Rain forerts cover about 10% of the earth, but they contain 90% of the world's animals and plants. Rain forests are found in the hottest parts of the earth. They are situated in the area from the Tropic of Cancer to the Tropic of Capricorn. This is the area on both sides of the Equator.
These forests are called rain forests because it usually rains there everyday. The weather is always hot amd humid. The main rain forests are in America, Africa, and Asia. The largest area of rain forest is Amazonia in South America. It is three times larger than the whole of Indoesia.
Indonesia was covered by rain forests, but many of its forests have been cut down. Some fire also destroyed the Indonesian forests, especially during the dry season. It is hard not to reforest the bare land.

Whale

Whales are mammals, but they live in sea. They breathe air, but they cannot survive on land. Sometypes of whale are very large indeed. Blue whales, for example, can grow to more than 30 meters in length. They are the largest animal that have lived on earth.
At a glance whales look rather like fish. However, there are some important differences in their external structures. Whales have tails that are board, flat and horizontal. These tails function as paddles. They also have single nostrils on top of their large, board heads.
A whale's skin is smooth and shiny. Beneath the skin there is a layer of fat or blubber. The fat is up to 30 cm in thickness. This fat keeps heat and fluids so that it can live in cold waters.

Orangutan

Orangutan means 'forest man' a very suitable name for the largest of the tree dwelling apes, a large male can weigh 90 kg.
Orangutans live in Andalas island and Borneo island, in Indonesia and Malaysia. They are very gentle animals and live quietly several meters off the ground. They spend their time moving meal to meal by passing from tree to tree, swinging rather than jumping, using their long arms to carefully reach out the gaps among trees.
It is thought that trere are abou 150.000 wild orangutans, but only about 20.000 are in severs and safety protected from danger. The main threat to the orangutanp comes from the logging companies, of from people who illegally capture and sell orangutan as pets. The logging companies exploit the living rain forests for timber but in doing so destroy the environment for orangutans. The orangutans need dense forest so they can easily move from tree to tree in searching for food. The destruction of the rain forest could also bring about the extinction of the orangutans. They cannot survive without dense living forests.

Natural resources

The materials wich are supplied by the earth, that is, by nature, are called natural resources. Some natural resources can by used again and again. They are called renewable resources. Other natural resources can be used only once. They are called non-renewable resources.
Some areas of the earth have been supplied with a lot of certain natural resources. Others have few natural resources, or perhaps none at all. Japan, for example, imports iron sand from Indonesia, because this county does not have enough iron one for industry. If country has few natural resources, it will have import materials from other countries.
Among our natural resources are fuels such as coal and oil. Precious mineral such as gold and silver are natural resources, too. Copper is a natural resource. The minerals we use come from inside of the earth. Gold, silver, and copper are minerals. The salt we use to flavour our food is natural resource. Our food, too, for example rice, is supplied by nature.
The important parts of the earth's surface provide many of natural resources. For example, we get our water flom lakes and streams. Water is a natural resource. We get wood from our forests. Wood is natural resource.
Air, too, is a natural resource. In fact, it is one of our most important natural resources. We'll die without enough air to breathe. In some cithes the air has become polluted because cars and other motor vehicles emit gas that mixes with the air. Steps are now being taken to make the air clean and to keep it clean.
